Circular and EcoDesign Workshop
The circular economy is advancing rapidly and with new developments such as the international standards and significant legislative updates in the European Union (EU), nearly all product categories and companies selling into the European market are affected. This in-person workshop includes practical guidance and activities that assist in the understanding and implementation of circular and sustainable design.
Dive into the new EcoDesign regulations and ISO Circular Economy standards with this one day workshop lead by Leyla Acaroglu and Jo Barnard with URGE collective’s Alexie Sommer facilitating the online attendees.
November 14th, 9am-4pm in Central London.

GREEN GRADS at Yorkton Workshops
Can design address some of the pressing eco-problems of our planet? It’s an overwhelming “yes” from the 24 Green Grads who will shortly parade their brilliant ideas for the future at Yorkton Workshops, the East London gallery of design agency Pearson Lloyd who are sponsoring the show.
The Green Grads are recent graduates from UK Universities, linked by a common concern for the environment. Given that up to 80% of a product’s environmental impact is determined at the design stage (according to the Design Council), this is a crucial show, revealing the potential of the responsible designers of the future.
Highlights will include bio-materials crafted from food waste: Josephine Drew transforms eggshells into delicate bowls, and Ella Sainsbury creates biodegradable wine packaging from winemaking by-products. Conor McArthur will showcase his seaweed leather, while Yohaan Kukreja and Ankita Khanna’s rice straw bio-composite offers a solution to agricultural waste in India. Lewis Broughton’s ModuRun running shoe has been designed with easy disassembly for recycling at end of life. Gabriel Kay’s repairable kettle and Saima Fateh’s climate-adaptive window blinds exemplify durable design, these are just a handful of examples of what’s in store.
Saturday 16th to Sunday 17th November, 1 - 3 Yorkton Street, London E2 8NH
“Our vision is to fuel UK environmental action with new talent from UK Universities.” Barbara Chandler, founder/curator of GREEN GRADS.
