The Deep Time Walk is an opportunity to explore the Climate Emergency via a transformative walking experience that leads participants into a profound connection with the more-than-human world.

The free audio app takes you on a journey as you walk 4.6km through 4.6 billion years of deep time; each metre = 1 million years. You will learn about key concepts from Earth’s long evolution including how Earth formed, along with the evolution of life, plate tectonics, oxygenic photosynthesis, multicellular life, The Cambrian Explosion, vertebrates, plants, amphibians, mammals, dinosaurs and finally (in the last 20cm) us humans!

Deep Time Walk C.I.C is a social enterprise. They provide tools and resources to empower a global community of changemakers and volunteer facilitators. Their vision is to empower an ensemble of geographically specific and culturally nuanced Deep Time Walks, providing an intercultural story-telling platform that helps bring about a diverse, flourishing ecological civilisation.

Organisations or individuals can request a dedicated Deep Time Walk here

Additional to the walk the social enterprise have created a set of Deep Time Cards designed to empower anyone to learn about Earth history and gain a perspective of the immensity of deep time. Each card provides a 100-million-year summary of the key transitions that have occurred across Earth’s deep history, with associated reference data and inspiring quotes.

Back in October we high lighted that Renée Materials were the winners of the GREEN GRADS Change Maker Award, for the project most likely to make a difference in the future. Their business is a circular marketplace for reclaimed creative materials. They match companies' offcuts, surplus stock, and leftover waste with those who need materials for creative projects. They are expanding and on the hunt for storage space, anything between 20-100 sqm if you know of anything in the London region, please get in touch with them directly here.
