Supported by the Mayor of London, We Design for the Community pairs up local London cultural and community organisations with design students. “The students help organisations improve their communications strategy under the guidance of design industry professionals. We believe in a collaborative design process where organisations, designers and students bring expertise, creativity and enthusiasm to develop bespoke solutions together. So that the next blog, leaflet or social media post can help organisations attract new members, reach new users and build stronger partnerships.” Its Summer School will run from 18-22 July. “Citizens’ assemblies can help us better address societal challenges, overcome polarization and strengthen trust.” An essay on the NOEMA website discusses the potential of these “new institutions [that] embody the potential of democratic renewal. They create the democratic spaces for everyday people to grapple with the complexity of policy issues, listen to one another and find common ground.” And may well be vital in formulating approaches to the Climate Crisis.
