Ahead of the UN Environment Assembly from February 28, the World Wildlife Fund is gathering signatures for a petition calling for a global legally binding agreement to end marine plastic pollution by 2030. The WWF want a treaty to “set strict goals for pollution reduction in each UN member state and instruct each state to create national action plans to meet these goals.” More here
More than 450 scientists have called on major advertising and public relations firms to drop their fossil fuel clients and stop what the scientists said was their spread of disinformation around climate change. The letter was organised in partnership with the Clean Creatives campaign and the Union of Concerned Scientists. “A scientifically sound approach for PR and advertising agencies considering what clients to continue working with leads to only one conclusion: end all relationships with companies that plan to expand their production of oil and gas. Stop all work that weakens legislative efforts to reduce carbon pollution,” the letter says. More here
