Bengt Cousins-Jenvey takes over from Ella Doran as editor of the URGE newsletter. He revisits past editions and asks for feedback from readers.
As the incoming editor of the URGE newsletter, I decided to look backwards to go forward. Thanks largely to Ella Doran the archive now comprises over 200 past editions. Each one highlights creative responses to the climate crisis with inspiring provocations, innovations, events, courses, guides, competitions or projects.
A lot happened between Sophie Thomas and John Grant discussing ethical beliefs and Alexie Sommer visiting Alki's workshop in Larresoro. Michael Pawlyn described an epochal shift (and interviewed Brian Eno), Federico Gaggio proposed a new media ecology. Ella Doran 'urged' for closed loops and much more.
There has been coverage of three real COPs and the Mock COP.
There is no doubt maintaining the stream of carefully curated content with future editions will be challenging and I need your help*. However, I am also committed to applying technologies such as AI behind the scenes to broaden and deepen the newsletter's coverage without sacrificing the necessary oversight or human touch.
Working towards a low-carbon, circular or regenerative economy is hard, staying informed should be easy.
You can still expect future editions every fortnight on a Monday. They will appear on urgecollective.com and in your inbox if you subscribe.
