DESIGN & CLIMATE: RETHINKING OUR ROLE

The afternoon will comprise of talks and workshops exploring the role of designers in the development of products and services and how we can make a positive planetary impact. This in-person event will bring together designers from all backgrounds to share ideas, collaborate, and learn from each other.

Its an opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and take your understanding of sustainable design ‘doing’ to the next level!

The speakers line up includes:

Keynote by:

Sustainability provocateur Leyla Acaroglu: designer, educator, and founder of the UnSchool of Disruptive Design

Pecha Kucha Talks:

Jon Alexander, author of the book Citizens will speak about reframing consumers as citizens and what this means for design.

Tom Lloyd, co-founder of product and furniture design studio Pearson Lloyd on applying the principles of circularity in the design process.

and the charismatic Priya Prakash, sustainable software designer and founder of design studio D4SC (Design for Social Change) will discuss the importance of collaboration, co-design and inclusive design teams in designing for the planet.

We will also be joined by Sarah Booth the Director of Impact at the Design Council to share insights into the UK design industry and some of the work they are doing with Design for Planet.

Workshops:

The talks will be followed by a 90 minute co-design workshop where you will put your design for sustainability knowledge to the test!
