The Design Council has launched the #DesignForPlanet Fellowship podcast, promising “thought-provoking conversations on how the design community can address the climate crisis”. Hosted by Alisha Morineke Fischer, the series will run each Friday until the Design For Planet Festival 2022 in November. The first episode features Bernard Hay and Josie Warden, Head of Regenerative Design at the RSA exploring the use of language in design across disciplines and its role in tackling the climate crisis. And talking of Design for Planet, the 2022 programme is now live. Over 60 design and business experts including Architect and Circular Design Pioneer William McDonough, Co-founder of Superflux Anab Jain, Model and Ecologist Zinnia Kumar, Design Declares co-founders Jo Barnard and URGE’s Alexie Sommer will take part over the two days of the festival which runs from November 8-9. The winners of environmental charity Hubbub and Starbucks’ £1.4 million Bring It Back fund, announced last week, include Scotland’s first large-scale reusable cup deposit scheme in the Highlands, Reath Technology, which aims to create ‘next generation’ reuse tracking software for packaging, and Green Street, a scheme to implement a returnable coffee cup and food packaging system in Bradford.
