As part of its ‘Our earth – our responsibility’ campaign, Danish broadcasting company TV 2 Denmark has installed a series of raised benches in Copenhagen to highlight the threat of rising sea levels. The benches have been “elevated to match what the UN considers to be a realistic rise of the sea-level in the year 2100,” TV2 say. Each bench has a plate reading “Flooding will become part of our everyday life unless we start doing something about our climate”. More here
The idyllic Domaine de Boisbuchet, near Poitiers in France, offers residential summer design workshops with a promise to “repair, recharge, reset”. Among the programme this year are ceramicist Faye Toogood, French studio Aléa, who will run a workshop on Bio-inclusive Design with Mycelium and Dr Johnny Drain on Fermenting to Zero Waste. Fed up with Africa being a ‘waste disposal system’ for donated clothes, Ugandan designer Bobby Kolade decided to refashion items into unique designs and return to sender, The Guardian reports. Kolade is launching Buzigahill, a fashion brand creating clothes from secondhand clothing sourced in Uganda which will be sold in the Global North. Story here
