French digital artist Fabien Barrau has created a series of images depicting landmark buildings in a world devastated by climate change. In an attempt to “to turn off plastic pollution at source”, Surfers Against Sewage has set up a scheme to help independent businesses in the UK to avoid single-use plastic. They can become a Plastic Free Champion by downloading a toolkit and business dashboard and following advice to cut their plastic use. More here
The Royal College of Art is collaborating with The Prince of Wales’ Sustainable Markets Initiative and Sir Jony Ive to launch the Terra Carta Design Lab, inviting students and recent alumni to develop credible and sustainable solutions to the climate crisis. “Young and emerging architects, designers, scientists, engineers, historians, writers, and artists from the RCA community will be tasked with addressing the damage being done to our planet and creating solutions which align with the aims of the Terra Carta; drawing inspiration from, and giving back to, nature”. The Guardian has launched Green Light, a new series on “companies’ accountability for the climate emergency and their efforts to tackle it”, which will run until COP26. “As pressure mounts on companies from all angles – governments, investors, activists and the public – and they respond with promises to create a green future, are they truly committed to doing what it takes to address the crisis, or are they simply tinkering around the edges as the world burns?” More here
